Streams of reflection
|
This site specific installation is aligned with the concept of "random matrix" in which a frame is created through which the viewers vision is focused. In this case their vision was focused on the small waterfall by using progressively smaller Perspex mirror reflecting frames. There was also a viewers seat on a platform in the middle of the creek. The idea comes from painting/drawing in which only a small section, of say a picturesque landscape, is framed. I am now applying this to three dimensional art. The choice of material is important. Why Perspex mirror? This was used because of the reflective nature of the stream. Why the title? Well reflection also has the meaning of thinking so the viewer would sit and whilst focused on the distant waterfall had time to reflect. |
